Over the summer between year 1 and 2 I decided I didn't have enough of a grasp or understanding of using 3ds max: I decided to take myself right back to the basics of 3D modelling and learn the basics by creating really basic furniture. By the time I had finished I had made myself a lamp, a book case and my pc desk complete with pc, keyboard, mouse and monitor.

Making my pc desk was a fun experience. It allowed me to practice various different modelling techniques and methods such as modelling by plane instead of using blocks and challenged me to use what I had learned in more complex ways. It left me feeling confident enough that when it came to later uni projects I could start using modifiers to make even more complex models.

My next step with 3D modelling is to gain experience and continue to learn the programs. I will be using programs like zbrush, 3ds max and maybe blender to start looking at modelling characters and hopefully model my own character or creature. From there that would lead into texturing my models by using programs such as photoshop or substance. In this way I would be able to gain experience and knowledge in these two fields of work.
